Tyler & Jessica Mallett
Serving in Niger
From: United States of America
Who we are:Tyler was raised on a farm in Alberta, Canada while Jessica grew up mostly in Montana. Before meeting as teachers at a school for missionary kids in West Africa, God used college study abroad programs to plant the desire for overseas ministry within each of them. Following two evacuations from that school, the Lord led them to Niger where they felt the Lord calling them to become a missionary pilot family.
The Malletts witnessed firsthand how aviation facilitates numerous ministries as they meet the needs, both physical and spiritual, of the Nigerien people, who live in one of the world's most impoverished nations. One airplane trip can have impact in multiple directions at once - carrying passengers to their work as doctors, educators, church planters, evangelists, Bible translators, agriculturalists, pastors, or relief workers. Travel by car can save a missionary family from wearing days on the road, providing safer and more efficient transport. Medical evacuations help patients get care for illnesses that could otherwise take their lives.
Tyler and Jessica moved to Spokane, WA where Tyler completed Moody Bible Institute's Missionary Aviation Technology degree earning his Airframe & Powerplant mechanic license and Commercial, Instrument and Certified Flight Instructor airplane ratings. Now together with their three kids - Mia (2008), Asher (2011), and Charis (2013) - they plan to return to the vast desert country of Niger as part of the SIMAir team.
Tyler & Jessica say, "We are excited about how God has gifted and equipped us for the furthering of His kingdom as we provide vitally needed support to such an array of ministries. We would love for you to join with us as we expedite the preaching of the good news of God's grace through Jesus Christ, His Son, in this predominantly Muslim nation".
What we do:Tyler is a pilot with SIMAir. Initially, Jessica will focus on raising the kids and developing relationships in the neighborhood. She is certified to teach English and French and also has administration experience working at the SIM office.
