ECWA Hospital Revitalization Egbe, Nigeria (96214)
Teams of volunteers push to complete the house renovations, repair the reservoir walls, rebuild the water filtration and pumping system, excavate the property and deal with electrical issues. In preparation for the rebuild, patients have been moved to other wards and temporary rooms have been built to accommodate those departments affected by the construction.
With the help of volunteers and local tradesmen, our team was able to build a temporary OPD wing and relocate the doctors' offices, patient waiting area, laboratory and x-ray in anticipation of demolishing the original OPD building.
Repairs to the reservoir are nearing completion, with the walls cemented, cracks repaired, filter beds restored, and a new pump installed.
Our missionary staff increased with short term missionaries SIM Canada Regional Director Rick and Martha Bradford and Donna Maxfield. Rick has given leadership to the maintenance team, as well as representing SIM on numerous occasions; while Martha provides hospitality and a music ministry. Donna spent two months developing curriculum and teaching at the ECWA Egde School of Missions and Oyi Seminary.

The hospital, founded in 1952 by SIM, has a significant impact on the physical and spiritual well-being of the region. Today, many of the ECWA churches were established by people who met Christ at Egbe Hospital. Over the years, hundreds of lives have been saved both physically and spiritually.
After almost 60 years of ministry, it is time for revitalization! The upgrades will include the buildings, electricity (including generators and solar power), water supply, medical equipment, laboratory, pharmacy, surgical and out patient services and Internet and communication services.
