Fréquence Vie Expansion (95360)
For 12 years, radio Fréquence Vie in the West African nation of Côte d’Ivoire has been a lifeline of Christian teaching and encouragement through its programs of discipleship, music, evangelistic outreach, Bible training, and much more. Radio director Dieudonné Ngumbi, from the Demorcratic Republic of the Congo, has provided quality leadership to the ministry.
SIM and its partner churches in the cities of Abidjan and Odienné have a distinctive focus on Muslim outreach. The radio is a vital tool in making this mission of the church a reality. In a nation which is 40 percent Muslim, the radio is an accessible and winsome voice available in any home or workplace across the nation. Its 24/7 programming clearly articulates the Gospel in culturally relevant ways.
The radio also edifies the growing church through theologically sound Bible teaching and worship music. Indeed, radio has been one of the greatest tools in helping the church mature and carry out its calling to be a prophetic voice in Ivoirian society.
Today, the radio station suffered damage during fighting which occurred from February to April 2011. The principle radio transmitter was burned irreparably on February 27. It was not a target, but its proximity to targeted government radio transmitters resulted in its destruction. Additionally, shrapnel from rocket fire tore a hole in the station’s roof, also damaging an interior wall and door. Remarkably, no one was injured.
In the aftermath of damage to equipment and the building, and despite weeks of food shortages, lack of basic public services, violence in the streets, and grave uncertainties, the station’s team is excited to rebuild, recover, and expand broadcasts into the southwester, and northern (predominantly Muslim) regions of the country. We cannot praise God enough for their stamina, visionary faith, and commitment to the Gospel! God has truly provided an excellent team that is courageous and inspirational to us all.
SIM engages in a wide variety of ministries worldwide, but our reason for doing any one of them is highly-focused and unique: the Church. Everything we do is done with planting, strengthening, and multiplying the local church as the primary focus. The ministry of Fréquence Vie is no exception. Thank you for your prayer and financial partnership with us. We could not do it without you!
