Water Supply Shortage for Galmi Hospital
in Niger
12 January 2009
Cindy Borody, serving in Galmi with SIM, wrote the following as an update in a recent blog post:

"On Christmas day, the new motor for the pump was lowered into the well. By the 26th, we had water in our pipes again! It was a belated Christmas gift. There is still a problem with a thermal relay switch, but they are monitoring the pump carefully to avoid burning it out. A new switch has been ordered from the US."

Thank you for praying for this situation.

16 December 2008

On 8 December 2008, the well pump for Galmi Hospital and the town of Galmi stopped working. With no supply line to the storage tanks and so many people desperate for water, the supply tanks were emptied quickly.

There was a spare pump to install, but because it had been in storage for so long, it failed as well. An SIM missionary was able to take parts from both pumps and piece together a pump that worked long enough to fill the storage tanks, but that one too has now broken.

A new pump is on its way from Holland, but in the meantime, one of the village tanks has run out of water again. Please be praying for the people in Galmi, Niger.

Pray

  • that God would provide enough water until the new pump arrives.
  • for the people with small children.
  • for Galmi Hospital staff to have wisdom and for the patients to have patience.
