It was a happy Friday when we delivered a refurbished tricycle to a young man in Baranama named Lanssinen. He has been a special part of my life since I first arrived in Guinea in 1989. He was just a young child when his mom came to me, begging me to give her boy medicine that would help him to walk.

Through the years I have worked with Lanssinen and his family, trying to share Jesus Christ with them. I was able to get Lanssinen a tricycle so he could get about the village. Then just before I went on my home assignment in 2006, Lassinen said he wanted to follow Christ as his Savior. He knew the cost as he had seen several others who had faced opposition in following Christ. He has kept to his desire to follow Christ, and right now is the only Christian in his village.

A New Tricycle

Lassinen’s first tricycle was ruined, as the family did not properly care for it. They asked if I would get him another one. After much prayer I told them that I would help them, but they would have to provide the funds for it. Lanssinen’s mom set about planting peanuts and rice in order to get money for the tricycle.

At the same time in another village, a family came to me and asked if I would be interested in buying a used tricycle. They gave me a very good price, and NaKuda, Lassinen’s mother, was able to give me the money for the tricycle. There was also some money that a small group of believers had collected. Pastor Ibrahim said that we should use that money to buy new tires and repaint the tricycle.

The Special Delivery

When the refurbishing was complete, we loaded the tricycle on top of my land cruiser and headed off to Baranama with our special delivery. There we found one happy young man! Even though he had not been able to use his old tricycle for almost a year, he quickly climbed up into his new one and made a tour of his yard with a smiling face. We took a few moments, surrounded by all the neighborhood children, to pray and to thank the Lord for his provision of this tricycle. I returned to Kankan with a happy heart. It was so good to be able to share Christ’s love with Lanssinen and his family.
