SIM Stands in Prayer for Korean Hostages
29 August 2007

A Korean woman stands in prayer during a Sunday worship service.

We praise God that that the remaining hostages have been released.

Please pray

  • for the former hostages to recover from the physical stress and trauma of their captivity.
  • for the families of the two men who were killed to be comforted.
  • for God to strengthen the Korean church through this.

We rejoice that two female hostages were released on Monday, August 13. Nineteen hostages still remain captives of the Taliban in Afghanistan. Please continue to pray for their release.

1 August 2007

Twenty-one Korean Christians remain hostages of the Taliban after being captured in Afghanistan on July 19, 2007. Two of the group members have been killed. The group was sent out from Saem-Mul Protestant Community Church to do medical work. The church, located south of Seoul, has been a partner with SIM Korea.

"Please pray that God will give them both strength and comfort that they may remain faithful to him," writes SIM Korea Director Hakjin Chun. "Though it may be hard to understand and see, God is at work."

Please join us in praying for the hostages to be released.

Please pray:

  • for the remaining hostages that are still suffering under the Taliban, that God would protect them.
  • that God's work will be done through this incident. The Korean church is currently being attacked and criticized.
  • that the Korean church will not stop working among Muslim people because of this incident but will instead listen and be open to what God is trying to say.
