SIM Seeks to Send More People to Nepal
7 October 2008
At this point, SIM has one worker in Nepal, but we believe the Lord desires to send us more people like her! Nepal needs people with a pioneering spirit; those who are courageous and tenacious with a strong heart for God; and those who will embrace the Nepali language, culture, and people for Christ. We are asking the Lord for people who are called to serve the poor and who have a passion for holistic ministry, incorporating justice issues and HIV and AIDS. While many rural churches in Nepal are struggling, some Nepali churches are working together to go beyond their borders to be a blessing to the world’s nations. Nepali Christians proclaim, “Nepali people are missionary people!” Nepal is no longer a Hindu kingdom with the recent fall of the King. However, there is still instability within the country with ongoing security concerns. Being a missionary in Nepal is not a job for the faint at heart. God is calling us to serve the church in Nepal through discipleship, missions training, Tibetan Buddhist ministry, youth ministry, and business as mission. Currently we are partners with International Nepal Fellowship (INF), working in health and development ministries. We are also in discussions with other agencies so that we can be involved in other kinds of work. Partnerships are essential!
PrayPlease pray with us as we develop new working relationships, write new position descriptions, and seek to broaden our base so that we can work more intentionally with churches. We believe God is leading us to renewed energy and to significant ministry in Nepal. Thank you for your prayers as we seek to follow our Guide upwards and onwards in the Himalayas!
