Kijabe, Kenya, which is home to Rift Valley Academy (RVA), Moffat Bible College, Kijabe hospital, the Kijabe Boys High School, and Kijabe Girls School, among other things, is experiencing an extreme water shortage as the sources of water for this vast community and its many ministries have almost dried up.
The river that supplies water for outside maintenance has run dry, and there has been no water to flush toilets for several days. The other water source, which is utilized for drinking water, bathing, etc., is dangerously low as well. As approximately 1,500 students are returning to the area this week to begin classes, there is an even more urgent need for the water that is so quickly running out.
During the last term, some of the Moffat Bible College students spent a day fasting and praying for a much smaller water need. The Lord quickly and graciously answered with three nights of fairly heavy rain,
which met the needs for the whole area for the rest of the term. We need this sort of mercy again, even more urgently, so we are asking you to join the staff and students here in asking the Lord to meet this need. It is the dry season here, so this sort of answer to prayer would clearly be an intervention by the Lord and an encouragement to the people of God’s faithfulness to answer prayer.
Some other parts of Kenya have also been experiencing drought and there is a serious lack of food in some areas as a result. The country as a whole needs rain (in the right amounts) so we would ask you to please pray for this need as well.
Pray
-
that the Lord would graciously send the right amount of rain (preferably during the next few nights) to replenish the sources of water.
- that God would provide rain and bolster food supplies for the other areas affected by drought in Kenya.
