Gospel Entering Social Spaces in South Asia
6 November 2006

The Gospel message is entering important social gathering places in one South Asian country. In small shops and new library reading rooms, more people are getting the opportunity to hear the truth of God's love in Jesus Christ.

The Jesus Film and a Cup of Tea

film showing at tea shop

Many tea shops and grocery markets have televisions and video players in order to attract customers. Several shop owners have been receptive to showing The Jesus Film in their businesses. Even though not all viewers agree with the movie, there has been a "reasonably good" response to the film. In addition to public areas, the team has also shown the film in private homes.

Some people who have seen the film have expressed interest in learning more about Jesus. Team members have given them Christian literature and are meeting with them to answer their questions about Christ.

Finding Truth in the Library

Library reading room

Just a small room containing a shelf of reading material and some mats on the floor, the library is a social gathering place where people come to read. Many people stay current by thumbing through the local newspapers, but other visitors to the library are discovering Truth that will change their life.

In addition to newspapers, Bibles and Christian literature line the shelves. In just six months, over 3,000 people have visited the libraries, and over 500 took Christian literature home to read.

Pray

There has been some opposition to the library in one community, but after relocating, it has remained open peacefully. Please pray for the team members and for those who are hearing the Gospel through the film and literature. Pray that many will discover the truth of Christ through these efforts.
