Christmas Giving Leads to Great Opportunities

Christmas Dinner Becomes an Outreach

The Maninka believers in Guinea often have a meal together on holidays. Usually they are only able to gather enough resources to feed themselves. But last year, the Christmas meal involved a much larger number. Because of the faithfulness of SIM’s donors, SIM Guinea members were able to give some funds from the Guinea project (8500), so that the Maninka were able to prepare enough food to invite their friends to both the meal and a church service.

Serving Those Who Are Serving Time

A special gift to Guinea project 8500 was also used to provide a Christmas meal for those imprisoned in Kankan, Guinea. Mark & Rae Wilson described the meal and the ministry in their prayer letter:

An anonymous gift enabled us to assist Maninka pastor, I.T.’s, prison ministry by providing a Christmas meal for over one hundred prisoners in the Kankan prison. Rae did the shopping, and then helped the Maninka Christian women cook the 150 lbs of rice and gobs of peanut sauce over 3 open fires! She also bought a large number of gift items (notebooks, soap, pens, cookies, etc) to which we added written Maninka Scripture and a Maninka Bible cassette from our media ministry. Our kids helped us assemble these 100+ gift bags and joined us inside the prison to deliver the meal and gifts. Pastor I.T. enthusiastically preached on how to be forgiven by Jesus. It was quite a family Christmas memory.

Give

You and your family can make a big difference also by giving a different kind of gift this Christmas. The SIM Gift Catalog highlights a number of projects in a variety of countries, any of which would be greatly impacted through your gift.
