Association Seeks Government Recognition to Begin Christian School
23 January 2008
teacher training seminar
Jim Vrugenhill, of Canada,
discusses Christian education
with Nigerien teachers
August 2007

For the past three years, SIM Niger has invested in training courses for Nigerien Christian teachers on how to teach from a Christian worldview. The response of the teachers has been very encouraging. In fact, a large number of the teachers who took the training courses were so enthusiastic that they formed a group called "Association Cornerstone." The goal of this new association is to start Christian schools across Niger.

The association has rented a building in Niamey, and recruited a teacher. There are parents lined up to enroll their children, but their official recognition with the government has been delayed. Without this recognition, it will be difficult to open their doors on January 30th as planned.

Pray

  • that the Minister of the Interior will sign Cornerstone's request for recognition that has been sitting on his desk for many months now.
  • for the Cornerstone school to be a blessing to the students who study there.
